These modern day Nubian women and child live in a village on the West Bank. They very hospitably invited the author into their home to have a glass of hibicus tea or "karkady." Ali is a Nubian captain of a felucca called the Zam Zam. Today's feluccas usually have cushions around the edge of the boat and a quite enjoyable for sailing. The captain may use his feet to steer as he maneuvers the sail back and forth.
