The most beautiful tomb in all Egypt is said to be that of Nefertari, the most favored wife of the great Rameses II. After extensive restoration, the tomb was opened to the public for a time, although only 150 people were allowed to enter the it each day, and only for a period of 15 minutes. However, even this limited access proved detrimental and the tomb is now closed. One can only gaze upon the entrance with longing.

La tumba más hermosa en todo Egipto se dice ser de Nefertari, la esposa más favorecida del gran Rameses II. Después que la restauración extensa, la tumba fue abierta al público durante un tiempo, aunque sólo 150 personas fueran permitidas entrar cada día, y sólo para un período de 15 minutos. Sin embargo, aún este acceso limitado demostró perjudicial y la tumba ahora esta cerrada. Uno puede sólo mirada la entrada con anhelo. La tumba esta completamente pintada con escenas que muestran Nefertari en la compañía de Dioses.

These images from The book of the Dead and Elysian Fields give us an insight into the tomb. Our taxi driver told us that when the tomb was open, tour guides would fight to get tickets. In his opinion, if he could see only one tomb in all of Egypt, it would be this one.

In these images we see the beautiful Nefertari with Hathor and Horus. The queen is always represented wearing long, transparent white garments, with two long feathers over the vulture-like headdress of gold. She wears rich jewels, in addition to bracelets and a wide golden collar.
