Introduction to the Sinai

The Sinai peninsula from space.

In this photograph we see the triangular shape of the Sinai peninsula, which is located in the Asian region of the Middle East. To the north is the Mediterranean Sea and to the south the Red Sea. The Suez Canal connects the Red Sea with the Mediterranean while a tunnel under the canal allows vehicles to travel from Asia to Africa. In the upper left hand quadtrant the Nile Delta and river are visible. You can also see coral reefs and small islands east of Egypt near the southern tip of the peninsula.
