Egypt 2005: Cairo

Dave in front of reproduction of relief of Battle of Qadesh

One of the first places we visited was the Pharaonic Village, a kind of theme park with recreations of Egyptian history plus a variety of museums. David is standing in front of a reproduction of a famous relief which Rameses II had carved in every temple he could get his hands on. At the time I was unaware that the Battle of Qadesh or Kadesh was so important and therefore neglected to get a picture of the scene in all its glorious colors. All the temple reliefs had lost their original colors over the course of centuries.
