A Teacher's Notes |
Introduction
As a teacher I cannot deny the urge to share and teach. No matter what teachers do or where they go, one of their first thoughts is about using the experience in a unit. When we travel we are thinking about how to use what we see back in the classroom. Our souvenirs are display items. When I planned my tour to Egypt, I had not planned to do this project. In fact, one of my concerns was to not be carried away by the need to take pictures. I would try to enjoy the experience without always thinking about the light and angle and how to get as few other tourists in the shot as possible. This turned out to be a bad idea and is why you will occasionally see Dave or Pam in one of the photos. Now I can't wait to go back to Egypt and get those photos I really need to improve this project. Luckily other people and organizations have helped fill in the gaps. My thanks to them and their willingness to share.
I also wanted to allow my Spanish speaking colleagues to enjoy as much - or as little - of this tour they wished. My son is helping with the translation of this website, which will be posted as it progresses.
A third concern was to put some images on the web which might be useful to other teachers. Therefore my photographs can be used freely for non-profit educational purposes, although not for commercial ones. For photographs facilitated by other organizations or individuals, please check with them. I have tried to clearly indicate sources.
There are undoubtedly errors in the text. I would appreciate help correcting these and suggestions on improving the site. Please contact me at pachi073@yahoo.com for any suggestions you have or corrections you would like to point out.
